Standard tests for electrical safety

When testing electrical safety, a fundamental distinction is made between different test methods:

  • Product testing (100 % production testing)

In routine testing, products from ongoing production are tested. The inspection takes place at the end of production (end of line). In this way, the manufacturer guarantees that each product placed on the market complies with the safety provisions of the relevant standards. Compliance with the “Basic (Safety) Requirements” is regulated in Europe by EU directives, which also form the basis for CE marking, among other things.

    More tests for electrical safety:

  • Protective conductor test
  • High-voltage test(hipot test)
    • Insulation strength, insulation resistance
    • Dielectric strength or electric strengh
  • Leakage and leakage current measurement
