BASi MF-2064: Contamination and Clogging of the Reference Electrode
When reference electrodes are immersed in a sample solution, they become dirty over time because the ions from the sample solution can diffuse through the frit. It can also happen that the electrolyte starts to drip from the reference electrode. This often happens because the frit dries out and the salt from the sample solution crystallizes inside the frit. The latter eventually leads to clogging of the frit.
Proper Storage and Easy Frit Replacement
It is therefore advisable to always store the reference electrode in the internal electrolyte of the reference electrode. However, if the electrode no longer works properly or the electrolyte drips, the frit can simply be replaced. With the replacement frit kit BASi MF-2064, you have the option of replacing the frit 5 times.
Alternative Products
If you would like to replace the entire reference electrode, we recommend the BASi Ag/AgCl reference electrodes MF-2052 and MF-2056 for aqueous solutions, available with either 3 M NaCl or 3 M KCl. If you want to prevent contamination and extend the service life of your reference electrode, choose the BASi MF-2031 sample chamber, which can also be used as a protective double-junction chamber.
