BASi MF-2xxx-Mikro: Compact Microelectrodes for Precise Measurements
BASi MF-2xxx-Mikro consist of metal wires or fibers with a small diameter (10 - 100 µm) enclosed in a hardened glass body. They are approx. 7 cm long and have an outer diameter of 4 mm.
Gold-Plated Connection and Easy Electrode Maintenance
The connection has a 0.060” pin coated with gold, which is attached to the electrode with a cable. The electrode surface is polished to a high gloss and can be easily maintained with the BASi PK-4 polishing set, which is available separately.
Alternative Products
If you need a robust working electrode for general electrochemical investigations, we recommend the BASi MF-2xxx standard disk electrodes, featuring a larger, defined surface area and a wide range of material options. For precise studies of electrode kinetics and mass transport, the OrigaLys OrigaTrod Kit with rotating disk electrode is a suitable alternative, as it uses controlled rotation unlike the microelectrode.

Applications
| Electrochemical investigations of all kinds - compared to the standard disk electrodes, the active surface of the microelectrodes is much smaller. As a result, the IR drop at the electrode and the electrode capacitance (which enables a faster sampling rate for cyclic voltammetry) are reduced. The diffusion to the electrode surface changes from linear to radial. |
