AC/DC Hipot and Insulation Tester for Insulation, Dielectric Withstand and Ground Continuity Testing

Associated Research Hypot 38xx | HiPot Tester: Perform Electrical Safety Tests Directly on the Instrument

The Hypot® 38xx series combines three important test functions in a single instrument: AC and DC dielectric withstand testing, insulation resistance testing and protective conductor continuity testing. This makes the series suitable for test stations where electrical products or assemblies need to be tested repeatedly. Limit values can be evaluated directly, and results can be clearly assigned.

When Several Test Types Belong in One Sequence

The hipot or high-potential testers perform dielectric withstand testing with AC voltage up to 5 kV and DC voltage up to 6 kV. For insulation resistance testing, they provide 30 to 1000 VDC and measure up to 50 GΩ. They also check protective conductor continuity with 0.1 A DC. This allows several core electrical safety tests to be carried out on the same instrument.

Test, Store and Assign

Recurring test sequences can be stored directly in the Hypot® 38xx. Test files, settings and results can be transferred via USB. The barcode connection assigns DUTs to the appropriate test files. If test data needs to be documented systematically in production or quality assurance, the WithStand® software supports data capture and management.

More Control at the High-Voltage Test Station

The instruments of the Hypot® 38xx series support controlled high-voltage testing. Features include SmartGFI®, Remote Safety Interlock, Charge-LO® and Ramp-HI®. These functions help monitor the DUT connection, control voltage ramps and integrate the high-voltage output into a safeguarded test station concept.

Clear Distinction From High-Current Protective Conductor Testing

The Hypot® 38xx checks the protective conductor circuit by means of a continuity test. It does not perform high-current protective conductor testing. For this task, a HYAMP® tester is the appropriate addition. This clearly separates the tests performed by the HiPot tester from those that require an additional protective conductor tester.

Alternative Products

If you require higher test voltages for dielectric withstand testing, the Associated Research HypotMAX® 77xx series is a suitable alternative. If additional electrical safety tests need to be combined in an extended test system, the Associated Research HypotULTRA® 78xx series may be suitable, depending on the test scope. For high-current protective conductor testing, we recommend the Associated Research HYAMP® 3240.
