Associated Research HypotMAX® 77xx – High-Voltage Hipot Testers for AC/DC Dielectric Withstand Testing

Bring High Voltage Safely to the Insulation Limit

The Associated Research HypotMAX® 77xx Series provides automated high-voltage Hipot testers for AC dielectric withstand testing and DC dielectric withstand testing. The instruments apply high test voltage between the high-voltage output and the return terminal. They show whether the insulation of electrical products, assemblies or cables withstands the specified test voltage or breaks down.

Choose AC Hipot and DC Hipot to Match the Test Task

Model selection follows your test specification: HypotMAX® 7705 tests up to 10 kV AC at 20 mA, while HypotMAX® 7715 tests up to 20 kV AC at 10 mA. For DC Hipot tests, HypotMAX® 7710 provides 12 kV DC at 10 mA and HypotMAX® 7720 provides 20 kV DC at 5 mA.

Control Leakage Current, Arc Events and DUT Connection

During the test, the instruments compare the leakage current with HI and LO limit values. Digital Arc Detection supports arc event detection and can be adapted to the test task via sensitivity levels. On DC models, Charge-LO® verifies DUT connection; Ramp-HI® prevents false failures caused by charging current during ramp-up of capacitive DUTs.

Safety Functions at the High-Voltage Test Station

SmartGFI® monitors the current path to ground and quickly shuts down the output in the event of dangerous leakage. The Remote Safety Interlock integrates safety cells, test hoods or door contacts into the test sequence. Ramp-Up and Ramp-Down raise and lower the test voltage in a controlled manner.

Automation, Interfaces and Model Selection

For production testing, the instruments in the HypotMAX® 77xx Series store up to 50 test programs and speed up changeover between DUTs with different limit values. USB and RS-232 integrate the instruments into PC-based workflows, while GPIB is optional. Via PLC Remote, you start tests, recall stored programs and link the interlock to your safety concept.

Alternative Products

If lower test voltages are sufficient for dielectric withstand testing and, depending on the model, insulation resistance or ground continuity also needs to be tested, the Associated Research Hypot® 38xx Series is a suitable alternative.
If AC/DC Hipot, insulation resistance and high-current ground bond testing need to be combined in an extended electrical safety test station, the Associated Research HypotULTRA® 78xx Series is suitable depending on the required test scope.
For dedicated high-current ground bond tests, the Associated Research HYAMP® 3240 complements the test station.
