RS-232 (Recommended Standard 232)

What does RS-232 mean?

RS-232 refers to a standardized serial interface for data transmission between two devices. The name is derived from the English term "Recommended Standard 232".
The RS-232 interface is still widely used today in test and measurement technology, industrial control systems, as well as in older PCs and embedded systems. It enables reliable communication even when high data transfer rates are not required.
