Bidirectional AC/DC Source and Regenerative AC Load for Grid Simulation
Kewell G9000NG: Grid and Load Testing for Electrical Systems
Power supply, grid simulation, and load testing in a single instrument: The Kewell G9000NG operates as a programmable AC/DC source, four-quadrant AC grid simulator, and regenerative AC load. AC, DC, and combined AC+DC operation allow test conditions to be configured precisely and the response of devices under test (DUTs) to be evaluated. In load mode, the instrument feeds absorbed energy back into the grid.
Simulating Grid Disturbances and Testing Protection Behavior
As a grid simulator, the G9000NG reproduces voltage sags, overvoltages, frequency variations, and short-duration grid interruptions. It also supports low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) and high-voltage ride-through (HVRT) testing to evaluate how grid-connected equipment responds to voltage deviations. The adjustable short-circuit ratio (SCR) allows engineers to investigate the effects of changing grid conditions on the DUT.
The G9000NG can also reproduce distorted grid voltages and unbalanced three-phase systems. Adjustable harmonics, interharmonics, and individual phase voltages enable testing of DUT behavior under deviations from ideal grid conditions.
In regenerative AC load mode, the G9000NG simulates different load characteristics using adjustable current, power, and resistance settings. Configurable RLC load models support anti-islanding tests to verify the islanding detection capability of inverters and power conversion systems (PCS).
The G9000NG can be integrated into automated test systems. Programmable test sequences and user-defined waveforms enable repeatable testing under consistent conditions.
