GW Instek GPT-12000 / GPT-15000: Targeted Dielectric Withstand and Ground Bond Testing
The GW Instek GPT-12000 / GPT-15000 are HiPot Testers for testing devices, assemblies, and components. In international test engineering, these high-voltage testers are commonly referred to as Hipot Testers. Depending on the model, they combine AC dielectric withstand testing, DC dielectric withstand testing, insulation resistance testing, ground bond testing, and ground continuity testing.
Select Test Power and Current by Test Type
The GPT-12000 provides up to 5 kV AC and 6 kV DC, 200 VA AC and 50 W DC, and up to 40 mA AC and 10 mA DC.
The GPT-15000 increases these ratings to 500 VA AC and 100 W DC, 100 mA AC, and 20 mA DC.
Ground bond testing is available from 3 to 32 A AC, while both series support capacitive loads up to 47 µF.
Run Test Sequences Reproducibly
Ramp-up, test, and ramp-down times can be configured for the DUT; during AC testing, the test voltage can be applied at the zero crossing. Arc Detection monitors of the GW Instek GPT-12000 / GPT-15000 the test sequence, while up to ten individual steps can be combined into an automatic sequence. Sweep and statistical functions support the evaluation of measured values and PASS/FAIL results. Results can be saved to the internal instrument memory or a USB storage device.
Select the Model by Test Type
- GPT-12001 and GPT-15001: AC dielectric withstand and ground continuity testing
- GPT-12002 and GPT-15002: additionally include DC dielectric withstand testing
- GPT-12003 and GPT-15003: additionally include insulation resistance testing
- GPT-12004 and GPT-15004: additionally include ground bond testing
RS-232C, USB, and signal I/O are standard for integration into automated test systems; LAN or GPIB are optional. The instruments meet the design requirements of IEC 61010-2-034 and are designed for electrical safety testing.
Touch current and protective conductor current measurements on an energized DUT, as well as source or load operation, require separate systems.
