Associated Research 82xx-Series OMNIA II: Electrical Safety Testing in Production, End-of-Line Testing, and Test Labs
The Associated Research 82xx Series OMNIA II is a model range for electrical safety testing on products and assemblies in production, end-of-line testing, and test labs. The electrical safety testers are designed as Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers and combine AC Hipot, DC Hipot, Ground Bond, Ground Continuity, insulation resistance, leakage current measurement, and Functional Run Test in a guided test sequence. Typical test points include insulation, protective earth connection, leakage current paths, and electrical operating values on the powered DUT.
Hipot, Protective Earth Testing, and Functional Testing in One Test Process
The models of the Associated Research 82xx OMNIA II Series support test stations where products must not only withstand voltage stress but also operate safely under powered conditions. For dielectric withstand testing, test voltages of up to 5 kV AC and 6 kV DC are available. Ground Bond testing is performed with test currents of up to 40 A. This allows dielectric breakdown, leakage current, insulation resistance, and protective earth resistance to be evaluated in a documented test program.
Technical Functions for Safe High-Voltage Testing
During high-voltage testing, manufacturer-specific functions help make the process safer and easier to control. SmartGFI shuts down the HV output in the event of dangerous fault current, while Remote Safety Interlock integrates external safety switches. Charge-LO checks the DUT connection before high voltage is applied. FailCHEK verifies failure detection in the test setup, while DualCHEK combines Hipot and Ground Bond in a single test step.
Selection Based on Test Type, DUT Power, and Automation
The choice of the right variant of the Associated Research 82xx Series OMNIA II depends on the test task, DUT power requirements, and integration into the test system. 8204/8254 cover Hipot, Ground Bond, continuity, and insulation resistance. 8206/8256 add Run Test and Leakage Current. 8207/8257 also provide an integrated AC power source. For automated test stations, USB and RS-232 are available; Ethernet, GPIB, and multiplexers can expand integration for multi-point testing.
Alternative Products
If Functional Run and Leakage Current testing are not required, the Associated Research Hypot 38xx is a more compact solution for AC/DC Hipot and insulation resistance testing. For extended Hipot, insulation resistance, and Ground Bond testing without functional testing, the Associated Research HypotULTRA 78xx is a suitable choice. For dedicated high-current Ground Bond testing, the Associated Research HYAMP 3240 is the matching addition.
