V/I Signature Tester for PCBs and 40-Pin Testing
Huntron 2800S: Locate Faults Without Powering the Assembly
The Huntron Tracker 2800S tests populated printed circuit boards, connectors and ICs with no operating voltage applied.
During Analog Signature Analysis (ASA), the instrument applies a current-limited sine-wave signal to the test point. The resulting current and voltage form a V/I signature. If it differs from the signature of a verified assembly, the affected circuit path can be traced further.
Test Up to 40 Pins Sequentially
Ribbon cables, IC test clips or custom adapters can be connected to the two front-panel 40-Pin IDC Connectors. The Tracker scans the pins sequentially and compares Channel A with Channel B. This eliminates the need to reposition the test probe manually at each connection.
Adjust the Test Signal to the Test Point
Six test voltages from 200 mV to 20 V, nine source resistances from 10 Ω to 100 kΩ and six frequencies from 20 Hz to 2 kHz provide more than 100 combinations. This allows the test signal to be matched to resistors, capacitors, inductors and semiconductor junctions. The color touchscreen displays the signature directly on the instrument.
Evaluate Signatures and Activate Components
The built-in analysis function Huntron SigAssist displays values derived from the signature for resistance, capacitance and breakdown voltages. These values support troubleshooting and do not replace calibrated component measurements. The DC auxiliary source supplies 0 to 10 V at up to 200 mA and activates SCRs, TRIACs and relays. The 2800S is not a functional tester for powered assemblies. The Tracker 3200S is intended for robotic probing.
Alternative Products
For manual V/I signature testing without cable-based 40-pin scanning, consider the Huntron Tracker 2800. When an integrated 128-pin scanner or connection to a Huntron Access Prober is required, the Huntron Tracker 3200S is the appropriate upgrade.

Is Manual Signature Testing Enough?
We determine whether manual V/I signature testing is sufficient or whether pin scanning and robotic probing better fit your workflow. The decision depends on the DUT, contact method and test frequency.
