Multiplexer for Multipoint Electrical Safety Testing
The Associated Research SC6540 is a modular switching matrix for automated electrical safety testing in production and laboratory environments. It routes the test voltage or test current from a connected electrical safety tester to multiple test points on a device under test. This enables AC and DC Hipot tests, ground bond tests, insulation resistance tests, and leakage current tests without manual rewiring between individual test steps.
Associated Research SC6540: Automated Channel Switching for Multiple Test Points
Channel switching is integrated into the test sequence through the connected electrical safety tester or a PC-based control system. Defined test points can be addressed sequentially without reconnecting the test leads for each test step. This reduces setup time and lowers the risk of incorrect channel assignments during recurring production and laboratory test sequences.
Five Channel Configurations in Ten Unit Versions
The
Associated Research SC6540
is available with 8 or 16 high-voltage or high-current channels. A combined version with 8 high-voltage and 8 high-current channels is available for test sequences requiring both channel types. Each channel configuration is offered as a main or secondary unit, resulting in ten available unit versions. The high-voltage channels are rated for up to 5 kV AC and DC, while the high-current channels support currents up to 40 A.
All versions are housed in a 2U enclosure.
Expandable Architecture for Automated Test Systems
One SC6540 main unit can control up to four secondary units via the multiplexer bus. This increases the number of test channels without requiring a separate connection between every unit and the control computer. The PC interfaces are located on the main unit: USB and RS-232 are standard, while Ethernet and GPIB are available as options. Alternatively, channel switching can be controlled from the front panel of a compatible OMNIA II, HypotULTRA, or LINECHEK II electrical safety tester.
Configure the Associated Research SC6540 for Your Test Setup
The appropriate unit version depends on the number and type of test points, the required test methods, the test voltage, and the test current. The connected Associated Research electrical safety tester, the preferred control interface, and any planned channel expansion must also be considered. Based on these requirements, we determine the appropriate channel configuration and whether one main unit is sufficient or additional secondary units are required.
Alternative Products
For multipoint testing that requires higher test voltages or more channels, the Vitrek 964i Series High-Voltage Switching System provides voltage ranges up to 15 kV, current switching capacity up to 40 A, and up to 64 channels per unit. When high-voltage switching must be integrated directly into the electrical safety tester, the Associated Research HypotULTRA® 78xx Series is available with an optional internal high-voltage multiplexer.
