GW Instek LCR-6000 Series: Measure and Compare Component Values
The GW Instek LCR-6000 Series is a precision LCR meter for measuring capacitance, inductance, resistance, impedance, dissipation factor and quality factor. Five models are available for development, incoming inspection and production. They operate from 10 Hz, with an upper test frequency of 2, 20, 100, 200 or 300 kHz depending on the version. Basic accuracy is 0.05%.
Set Test Conditions to Suit the Measurement
Test voltage and test current are adjustable. Automatic Level Control keeps the selected AC voltage level at the device under test constant. An internal DC bias of up to ±2.5 V is available for measurements with a superimposed DC voltage, while the DCR function measures DC resistance.
OPEN/SHORT Compensation for the Test Fixture
Before the impedance measurement, the instrument GW Instek LCR-6000 Series measures the test fixture in its open and short-circuit states. It uses these reference values to compensate for the fixture’s own contribution to the measurement result. OPEN/SHORT compensation can be performed at a single frequency or across the entire frequency range. When the same fixture remains in use, the test frequency can then be changed without repeating the zero adjustment.
Evaluate Characteristic Curves and Process Results
The 10-step list measurement allows test points to be configured with their own frequency, voltage or current values. This shows how the selected component parameter changes under different test conditions. For automated measurement and test processes, the instrument provides PASS/FAIL results across nine BIN classes and one AUX channel. Measurement data can be saved as CSV files and screenshots to USB, while RS-232C supports external control and measurement data readout.

For LCR measurements above 300 kHz, the GW Instek LCR-8200(A) Series is a suitable alternative. Depending on the model, the frequency range extends to 50 MHz; additional features include graphical sweep display, 15-step list measurement and an internal DC bias of up to ±12 V.
