Test UPS Systems, Inverters, Frequency Converters, and Generators Under Load
With the ITECH IT8600 Series, the decisive factor is not the type of device but the AC or DC output to be loaded. The programmable AC/DC electronic load connects directly to this output and absorbs the power delivered by the device under test. Depending on the test, it maintains a constant current, resistance, or power. This allows you to examine the output at different load points and verify whether it remains within the specified limits.
Analyze Voltage and Current Waveforms on the Display
The ITECH IT8600 Series displays voltage and current waveforms during AC and DC testing directly on the screen. For DC tests, it also shows voltage, current, and absorbed power at the selected load point. For AC outputs, the displayed parameters additionally include RMS and peak values, active, apparent, and reactive power, frequency, power factor, and crest factor.
Output voltage distortion can be examined in more detail using harmonic analysis up to the 50th order. In CC and CP modes, the power factor and crest factor can be set as required. This makes it possible to test how the output responds to a load with a lower power factor or pronounced current peaks.
Adapt the Load to the Test
Depending on how the device under test is to be loaded, the ITECH IT8600 Series operates in constant current (CC), constant resistance (CR), or constant power (CP) mode. These operating modes are available for both AC and DC outputs. In DC operation, the IT8615 and IT8615L also provide constant voltage (CV) mode. For short-circuit testing, the load can be switched to DC short-circuit mode. This shows whether the current limiting and protection circuitry of the device under test respond as intended.
Log Test Data and Control the Load Remotely
During extended or automated tests, readings do not need to be recorded manually. The IT8600 logs them at defined intervals and saves the results as a CSV file on a USB storage device. Via LAN or USB, the test software can send setpoints, change settings, and retrieve measurement data. If GPIB is required for an existing test system, the availability of this interface should be confirmed with ITECH before ordering.
Alternative Products
If the absorbed power needs to be returned to the grid, the ITECH IT8200 Series is an alternative. It combines regenerative AC/DC load testing with freely programmable waveforms and master/slave parallel operation. For test systems requiring particularly high load power, the ITECH IT8200E Series provides a power range from 21 to 231 kVA and can be expanded to more than 1 MVA through parallel operation.
