ITECH IT8700P+: Modular DC Load System for Defined Load Tests
The IT8700P+ series is a modular electronic multi-channel DC load system for testing AC/DC power supplies, DC/DC converters, communication power supplies, batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, and solar cells. Synchronously controlled load channels apply defined current draw to single or multiple DC outputs.
Load Transients and Transient Tests
For transient tests, the IT8700P+ generates defined current steps with rise/fall slew rates of up to 12 A/µs. This makes it visible how stably switching power supplies, DC/DC converters, and communication power supplies regulate under fast load changes. Three current ranges cover standby/sleep measurements through to high load currents in battery and power supply tests.
Loading DC Outputs in Parallel
The ITECH IT8700P+ loads multiple DC voltage rails in parallel and controls the load channels synchronously. Load changes, current draw, and output behavior of individual power supply outputs are captured in the same test sequence. Master/slave operation scales the system to up to 8 units, 16 channels, and 4.8 kW load power.
Low Voltage and 250 kHz
The low input resistance supports low-voltage load tests at low output voltage, for example on fuel cells, supercapacitors, and solar cells. The IT8700P+ captures voltage and current at up to 250 kHz. For load characteristics and test sequences, CC, CV, CR, CW as well as CV+CC, CR+CC, CW+CC, and CV+CR/CR-LED are available.
Integration and Selection
LAN, USB, RS232, and SCPI integrate the programmable DC load into test benches, ATE, and end-of-line tests. OVP/OCP/OPP/OTP and sense protection limit fault conditions. Key selection criteria include voltage range, load current, power, channel count, slew rate, standby measurement range, and interface.
The IT8700P+ series loads the device under test; it does not source power. DC power supplies, AC sources, hipot testing, and insulation measurement require a different instrument class.
Alternative Products
For multi-channel DC load tests without high-speed load transients up to 12 A/µs, the ITECH IT8700 Series may be suitable. For programmable multi-channel tests up to 500 V, consider the ITECH IT8700P Series. If the DUT must feed energy back or be actively powered, bidirectional power supplies and loads are the more appropriate instrument class.
