Modular Multi-Channel Electronic DC Load for Automated Testing

ITECH IT8700P: Test DC Sources and Power Supplies With up to 16 Load Channels

The ITECH IT8700P Series allows multiple outputs of power supplies or DC/DC converters to be loaded simultaneously. Suitable load modules are combined in a single mainframe, which controls up to eight channels depending on the configuration, or up to 16 with an expansion frame. The modules can run test sequences independently or start synchronously, allowing multiple power supply outputs to be tested under coordinated load conditions.

To examine how a DC source responds to changing loads, the programmable electronic DC load generates defined load transitions at frequencies up to 25 kHz. For more complex current waveforms, the LIST function allows load profiles to be created and stored. CC, CV, CR, and CW modes are available, along with four combined operating modes. Voltage and current measurements at sampling rates of up to 50 kHz show how the DC source responds under load.

The IT8722P and IT8722BP load modules feature dynamic power allocation across two channels. This allows two outputs to be loaded differently using a single module, with up to 250 W per channel and a combined maximum of 300 W. The automatic test function compares measurement results against defined limits. USB, LAN, and RS232 interfaces allow the system to be integrated into automated test systems. Battery discharge testing is also possible. The IT8700P operates as an electronic load, absorbing power without feeding energy back into the grid.
