Product Information "Programmable Electronic Multi-Channel DC Load | IT8700P Series"
ITECH IT8700P Series
Modular Multi-Channel Electronic DC Load for Synchronized Testing of Multiple DC Outputs and Power Supplies
Up to 16 Channels, Up to 50 kHz Measurement Speed, and 25 kHz Dynamic Operation
Overview and Application Scope
The ITECH IT8700P Series is a programmable multi-channel electronic DC load (multichannel DC load) for the controlled loading of DC sources, power supplies, batteries in discharge mode, and DC-DC converters. It operates exclusively as an electronic sink and supports test scenarios in which multiple DC outputs or power paths are loaded simultaneously or in a coordinated manner.
Typical Test Scenarios
- Multi-Output Power Supply Testing: Load Multiple Outputs in Parallel and Execute Load Changes with Precise Timing Coordination
- DC-DC Converter Testing: Verify Control Behavior and Stability Under Dynamic Load Changes
- Battery Discharge Testing: Run Reproducible Discharge Profiles and Monitor Cut-Off Conditions
- Production and End-of-Line Testing: Automate Repeatable Multi-Channel Load Sequences
Modular Multi-Channel Concept
In test setups with multiple supply outputs or power stages, single-channel electronic DC loads are often not sufficient. The IT8700P Series enables parallel operation of multiple load channels within one mainframe and supports synchronized operation of multiple modules.
The modular architecture makes it possible to adapt the number of channels and the power rating to the respective DUT. Depending on the module configuration, multiple load points can be tested within one system and test sequences can be executed consistently.
Load Operating Modes and Dynamic Load Profiles
For realistic simulation of electrical consumers, the IT8700P Series supports constant current (CC), constant voltage (CV), constant power (CW), and constant resistance (CR) operating modes, as well as combined modes.
With the LIST function, time-dependent load profiles, defined load steps, and dynamic load changes can be executed automatically. This is particularly relevant for evaluating the control behavior and stability of DC sources under changing load conditions.
Measurement and Protection Functions
The IT8700P Series captures current and voltage values at measurement rates of up to 50 kHz, enabling precise measurements even during fast load changes and dynamic test profiles.
Integrated protection functions against overcurrent, overvoltage, overpower, and overtemperature protect both the DUT and the test system, enabling stable operation in development and production environments.
System Integration and Automation
SCPI-based remote control via standardized interfaces enables integration of the IT8700P Series into automated test systems, ATE environments, and multi-channel test benches. The modules can be controlled independently or synchronously and parameterized centrally.
This supports consistent test procedures, reduces system-related deviations between channels, and facilitates the implementation of repeatable test sequences.
Application Logic
Use the IT8700P Series when you need to test multiple DC outputs or power paths simultaneously and require defined load profiles, load steps, and time-coordinated sequences. The electronic DC load operates as a sink and loads the DUT in a controlled manner in order to evaluate control behavior, stability, and protection circuits under realistic load conditions.
What the IT8700P Series Is Not
- Not a DC Voltage Source or Current Source, but Exclusively an Electronic DC Load (Sink)
- Not Suitable for AC Load or Mains Testing
- Not a Regenerative Load, with No Energy Fed Back into the Grid
- Not a Safety Tester, Hipot Tester, or Insulation Tester
Configure the IT8700P Series to Match Your Application
We support you in selecting and configuring the IT8700P Series according to your DUTs, load profiles, and test procedures. This results in a modular DC load system that integrates cleanly into your test environment and enables reproducible, traceable test results.
