GW Instek ASR-3000 Series: AC/DC Power Source for Supply Testing
The GW Instek ASR-3000 Series generates programmable AC voltage, DC voltage, and combined AC+DC signals for testing power inputs.
It is suitable for power supplies, on-board chargers, UPS systems, LED modules, motors, fans, and vehicle electronics. Depending on the model, the series provides 2 to 5 kVA, up to 400 V RMS AC, and up to ±570 V DC. The rated output power is available in both AC and DC operation.
Power Disturbances and Custom Waveforms
Sequence and Simulate modes reproduce voltage dips, overvoltages, interruptions, frequency variations, power-on events, and fast DC voltage steps under repeatable conditions.
Stored sequences support selected ISO 16750-2 test profiles, including Momentary Drop, Reset Behavior, Starting Profile, and Load Dump. Custom voltage profiles can be created and stored using the arbitrary waveform function.
Measurement and Model Selection
The measurement functions capture RMS, average, and peak values for voltage and current, as well as active, apparent, and reactive power, power factor, crest factor, and harmonics up to the 100th order.
A separate power analyzer should be included in the test setup for high-accuracy power and efficiency measurements.
Available models include the ASR-3200, ASR-3300, ASR-3400, ASR-3400HF, and ASR-3500. Selection criteria include power, voltage, continuous and inrush current, crest factor, operating mode, and output frequency. The ASR-3400HF reaches up to 5 kHz at 4 kVA, while the other models operate at frequencies up to 999.9 Hz.
Integration and Scope of Use
USB, LAN, RS-232C, GPIB, external control I/O, the integrated web server, and remote sensing support integration into automated test systems. The ASR-3000 Series generates defined AC, DC, and AC+DC supply signals.
Test applications that also require an electronic load, a regenerative sink, Hipot testing, or a regulated constant-current mode require additional specialized instruments.
Alternative Products
For AC input testing up to 3 kVA, the GW Instek APS-7000 is a suitable option. For test systems requiring bidirectional AC/DC operation, a regenerative sink, or higher power ratings, the ITECH IT7900P grid simulator is an appropriate alternative.
