Kewell D2000-IV: Overview

The Kewell D2000-IV Series includes intelligent DC power supplies that combine high precision, fast control response, and high efficiency in one system. This is made possible by the use of third-generation SiC semiconductors. As a result, the series features a consistently modular design, a high level of standardization, and is built for demanding test tasks in research and development.
The PV simulators of the Kewell D2000-IV Series is suitable for simulating different cell technologies, including monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and thin-film cells. Test parameters such as temperature, irradiance, and test duration can be defined flexibly. In addition, five integrated test standards are available: EN50530, Sandia, NB/T32004, CGC/GF004, and CGC/GF035. This allows the series to cover typical test requirements for inverters and energy storage systems in research institutes and universities.

Ultra-High Power Density, Ultra-High Efficiency

The power density of a single cabinet reaches 176 kW/m³ and above. Compared with line-frequency-based solutions, this corresponds to an increase of 112%. The 300 kW cabinet weighs less than 900 kg and is therefore 61.9% lighter than comparable systems based on line-frequency technology.
With an efficiency of up to 95.5%, the D2000-IV Series also operates significantly more efficiently than line-frequency-based solutions. The manufacturer states an efficiency advantage of 3.5%. This results in a CO₂ reduction potential of up to 30,150 kg per year.

Modular Design

Its modular design allows faulty modules to be replaced quickly. The complete system does not need to be returned to the factory for service or maintenance. Instead, only the affected modules are replaced. This keeps the system available more quickly and significantly reduces interruptions in the test process.

Strong Output Performance

The SiC-based DCDC design combined with an interleaved BUCK topology increases the switching frequency and improves the dynamic behavior of the DC output voltage. This supports stable output regulation with low voltage drop even during demanding load changes.

Alternative Products

If you require higher currents for battery, drivetrain, or charging technology applications, we recommend the Kewell D2000-EV Series with up to 1,200 V and 1,200 A; by comparison, the D2000-IV reaches up to 2,000 V and is particularly suitable for PV and high-voltage applications. For laboratory and development applications requiring lower power in a more compact system, the Kewell S7000-H Series with up to 2,000 V, 120 A, and 30 kW is a suitable alternative to the D2000-IV with up to 600 kW.
