Regenerative High-Voltage Grid Simulator for Grid Disturbances, PHiL Applications, and Grid-Connected DUTs

When Testing Requires More Than a Pure AC Supply

As soon as voltage, frequency, and defined grid disturbances must be reproduced realistically and repeatably, a conventional AC source alone is no longer sufficient. This is exactly the type of test task the IT7900 Series from ITECH is designed for.
It operates as a regenerative high-voltage grid simulator and as a 4-quadrant power amplifier. This allows PCS, energy storage systems, microgrids, BOBC and V2X applications, as well as Power Hardware in the Loop (PHiL), to be tested under realistic grid conditions.
With up to 700 V (L-N), optionally 1050 V (L-N), and power expansion up to 900 kVA in parallel operation, the series also covers high-voltage and high-power test applications. The programmable RLC function additionally supports testing in accordance with IEEE 1547 and UL 1741.

When Grid Conditions Must Be Simulated Precisely

Voltage dips, phase jumps, frequency changes, and harmonic injection must be generated reproducibly in the test field. For this purpose, the IT7900 Series offers AC and AC+DC operation, programmable output impedance, LIST and SWEEP functions, as well as editable waveforms.
This is complemented by measurement functions for voltage and current harmonics up to the 50th order. A touchscreen, AC power meter, and integrated digital oscilloscope make voltage, current, and signal waveforms directly visible on the unit. Data and waveforms can be imported and exported via the front USB interface.

For Inverters, Storage Systems, AC Charging Technology, and More

The IT7900 Series is suitable for testing inverters, energy storage systems, AC charging technology, transformers, UPS systems, and AC motors. In these applications in particular, it is critical that DUTs operate reliably under defined voltage and frequency conditions and respond to grid changes in a controlled manner. Feeding absorbed energy back into the grid during testing reduces cooling effort and lowers energy costs at the same time, especially in long test sequences and at higher power levels.
