Product details for Kewell G9000 | Bidirectional Programmable AC/DC Source & AC Load

Bidirectional Four-Quadrant AC/DC Power Supply with AC Grid Simulation

Bidirectional grid simulation for grid-connected equipment and energy systems

The Kewell G9000 is a bidirectional AC source/load system for grid simulation and electrical test tasks in development, validation, and production. In four-quadrant operation, source and sink functionality are combined in one system. In load mode, absorbed energy can be fed back regeneratively. A DC output mode extends the application range to DC-side testing (e.g., DC link, storage systems, DC bus).

High power density and fast dynamics with SiC technology

The unit is designed for a wide frequency range, high power density (e.g., 25 kVA in 3U), high measurement accuracy, and fast dynamic response.
It uses state-of-the-art wide-bandgap SiC power semiconductors.

Targeted testing of dynamic events, ride-through, and power quality

In sine mode, voltage/amplitude, frequency, and phase angle can be freely parameterized. Phase control can be coupled or independent. LIST/PULSE enables programmable profiles for dips, surges, and interruptions. Grid interruptions down to 1 ms are specified. For voltage ride-through, LVRT and HVRT tests are supported.
For power quality analysis, functions for harmonics and interharmonics are available. THD values and phase measurements are displayed in tabular form. Harmonic limits depend on function and frequency range.

AC/DC output mode and load models

DC operation is specified up to 650 VDC (max. 25 kW). The maximum DC output current corresponds to the AC RMS current in the respective mode (e.g., 120 A in 1-phase operation). In regenerative AC load mode, CR, CC, CP, and RLC modes are available. In addition, 14 predefined RLC models can be used for inverter and PCS testing.

Interfaces and scalability

For automated test setups, RS232, LAN, CAN, USB, as well as analog and digital I/Os are available.
For higher output power, the system supports parallel connection and modular stacking in 15U–24U frame systems.
