High-Voltage AC Sources for Grid Simulation and Power Electronics

For AC Tests With Clearly Defined Requirements

The instruments of the ITECH IT7800H Series are programmable three-phase high-voltage AC sources for R&D, testing, and production. As AC Power Sources, they supply frequency converters, UPS systems, AC motors, OBCs, charging electronics, AC-DC power supplies, and power electronics with defined AC test conditions.

High Voltage Under Test

They provide up to 700 V L-N or 1050 V L-N. The 700 V L-N versions cover up to 900 kVA, while the 1050 V L-N versions cover up to 810 kVA. Selection depends on the voltage level, output current, kVA power, frequency range, and grid disturbance profile.

Targeted Testing of Grid Faults

For grid simulation and supply tests, the instruments generate AC outputs from 16 to 100 Hz. Using LIST, SWEEP, and Surge & Sag, they reproduce ramps, frequency changes, voltage dips, voltage rises, and supply interruptions. This allows users to test how DUTs respond to power-up, grid recovery, and unstable AC grid conditions.

Reproducing Distorted Grid Waveforms

The instruments reproduce distorted grid waveforms in the test bench and support harmonic simulation and analysis up to the 50th order, custom curves, and CSV waveform data. In AC+DC output mode, they combine the AC output with a defined DC component. AC power measurement, touchscreen waveform display, USB, CAN, LAN, digital I/O, and optional GPIB/RS232 support automated test sequences.

Choose the Right Instrument Class

For hipot tests, pure DC supply, or load tests, DC laboratory power supplies, hipot testers, or electronic loads are required. In regenerative applications, a regenerative four-quadrant grid simulator may be required.
The IT7800H Series is the right choice when the test bench needs to provide defined AC conditions and evaluate the DUT’s behavior on a simulated grid.

Alternative Products

If your test setup does not require 700 V L-N or 1050 V L-N, the ITECH IT7800 Series is a suitable AC/DC source for lower voltage levels. If energy feedback, four-quadrant operation, or grid simulation with active power absorption is required, consider the ITECH IT7900H Series or the ITECH IT7900 Grid Simulator.
