ITECH IT8400: Dynamic Load Testing and Automated Test Sequences
The ITECH IT8400 Series comprises programmable high-power electronic DC loads for battery and energy storage testing, fuel cells, DC charging stations, OBCs, DC/DC converters, motors, and power electronics. With 600 V and 1,200 V models and master-slave parallel operation up to 600 kW, the series covers both high-power standalone units and scalable test systems.
For fast load changes, the 1,200 V models provide dynamic operation up to 25 kHz with adjustable current rise and fall times. At ambient temperatures below 30 °C, double-power loading enables operation at up to twice the rated power for less than 3 s. Three current measurement ranges with resolution down to 40 µA support measurements across a wide current range.
LIST programming, internal and external triggering, and 0–10 V analog control enable reproducible load profiles and automated test sequences. OCP/OPP tests, battery testing, short-circuit simulation, and automatic testing further support test automation. LAN, USB, RS232, GPIB, CAN, analog, and I/O interfaces support remote control and system integration; IT9000 software, a LabVIEW driver, and the SCPI protocol are also available.
As an electronic DC load, the IT8400 absorbs power from the device under test. It is not designed for source operation or AC load testing. If the power absorbed during load testing needs to be fed back into the grid, a regenerative electronic load is required.
