What is an Impedance Measurement System?
An impedance measurement system is a device used to determine the complex resistance of electronic components, PCBs, or materials over a defined frequency range.
The system stimulates the test object with a controlled AC signal and measures voltage, current, and the resulting phase shift. Based on this, it calculates the impedance Z, consisting of the resistive component R and the frequency-dependent reactive components X.
Since these reactive components behave differently depending on the frequency, an impedance measurement system provides not just a single value, but a complete impedance profile.
This information is essential for accurately characterizing electronic components, evaluating PCB structures, and analyzing material-related properties.
In development, testing, and quality assurance, an impedance measurement system helps reliably assess electrical parameters and detect deviations at an early stage.
