ITECH IT8000: Absorb DC Energy and Feed It Back into the Local Grid
As a regenerative electronic DC load, the ITECH IT8000 series loads high-voltage batteries, large DC power supplies, power electronics, fuel cells, and high-current DUTs. The units operate at load voltages up to 2250 V and system currents up to 8000 A. Up to 95 % of the absorbed DC energy is fed back into the local grid.
Run Load Profiles for Real-World Test Sequences
For realistic test sequences, loads can be specified in current-, voltage-, power-, or resistance-controlled mode. Changing operating points are also reproduced under practical conditions. With the LIST function and arbitrary waveform generator, load steps, ramps, and complex profiles can be run precisely and repeatably.
Battery Discharge Tests with Limit-Based Cutoff
In battery discharge tests, the sequence stops automatically as soon as limits for voltage, capacity, or time are reached. The regenerated energy can also be recorded directly on the unit via the Power Accumulation function.
Safely Test Fast Load Changes
Dynamic load changes up to 500 Hz cover tests with rapid current changes and transient conditions. In regenerative operation, grid status, DC input voltage, and frequency are monitored. In the event of a grid failure, the unit shuts down automatically; integrated protection functions additionally secure DC load operation.
Scale and Integrate the Test Bench
From an 18 kW single unit in 3U to a master/slave system with up to 2 MW, the series can be scaled to match the test bench. Standard interfaces such as USB, CAN, LAN, and digital I/O simplify integration into automated DC load test benches. The series is not intended for source, AC load, or hipot applications.
Alternative Products
If energy recovery is not the main requirement, the ITECH IT8100A/E high-power electronic DC load is a suitable alternative for high-current, battery, and short-circuit tests. For source/sink testing with an active DC source, the ITECH IT6600C bidirectional DC power supply/load is a strong option.
