Power analysis
What does Power Analysis mean?
Power analysis describes the systematic measurement, calculation, and evaluation of electrical power in electrical engineering.
Different types of power are considered:
Applications:
- Efficiency assessment: analysis of motors, transformers, and electrical devices
- Power quality: detection of harmonics, distortion, and reactive power components
- Safety and compliance testing: adherence to VDE, IEC, and EN standards
- Energy optimization: basis for energy management and cost reduction through reactive power reduction
- Troubleshooting: diagnosis of load imbalances, overloads, and disturbances in electrical installations
Modern instruments such as power meters or power quality analyzers record voltage and current waveforms and enable precise analysis even with distorted or complex signal shapes.
