Programmable DC Source for Bidirectional Test Applications
The ITECH IT-M3900C Series is a programmable bidirectional DC power supply for tests with changing power-flow directions. Depending on the model, it provides up to 1,500 V, 1,020 A, 6 kW in 1U, or 12 kW in 2U. The wide-range output supports different voltage and current combinations within the available power range.
Dynamic Power Supply and Regenerative Energy Recovery
The IT-M3900C supplies DC power to the device under test and absorbs power when the direction of energy flow is reversed. The fast transition between source and sink current reduces overshoot during battery, DC-DC, and automotive testing, while absorbed energy is regeneratively fed back into the grid.
Programmable Test Profiles
CV/CC priority, adjustable output impedance, and programmable voltage, current, and power slew rates generate defined transients. Up to 10 million sequence points reproduce dynamic test profiles. Stored curves support selected requirements from LV123, LV148, DIN 40839, ISO 16750-2, SAE J1113-11, LV124, and ISO 21848; 10 V models are excluded.
Battery, PV, and Fuel Cell Simulation
Voltage, capacity, internal resistance, and state of charge can be parameterized for battery simulations. The optional BSS2000 software adds configurable battery characteristics and data import functions. PV and SAS models simulate I-V curves for static and dynamic MPPT testing, while FCS3000 enables single-channel fuel cell simulation.
ATE Integration and Protection Functions
Master-slave parallel operation increases the available power of the bidirectional DC power supply. USB, CAN, LAN, and digital I/O are integrated; GPIB and analog/RS-232 are optional. OVP, ±OCP, ±OPP, and OTP monitor electrical limits, while anti-islanding protection and automatic grid detection support regenerative operation.
Application Limits
The IT-M3900C Series is not intended for test applications in which advanced or combined electronic load modes are the primary requirement.

For bidirectional DC test applications with lower power requirements, the ITECH IT-M3400 Series is suitable. For applications requiring higher system power, the ITECH IT6000C Series and the ITECH IT6600C Series are available as regenerative bidirectional DC power supplies.
